My Hair Routine
Shelly's Haircare Routine
1. I wash the roots of my hair every other day using The Clean Beauty Lab or Less & Lavish shampoo and conditioner. I probably wash my whole head 1-2 times a week. I never towel dry my hair. I may squeeze the ends to get some water out but I never put my hair up in a towel - I find this to be drying to the hair.
2. I put Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs) in a spray bottle and keep it in the shower. About once a week (on a full hair wash day), I spray it all over my roots and tips right after rinsing out my shampoo. I apply conditioner and let it sit on the hair for about a minute before rinsing everything out. I have a Wet Brush that I use in the shower to get all the tangles out when I'm finishing up.
3. I stimulate my scalp with a Gua Sha comb as often as I can. Stimulating circulation helps the hair grow more because hair follicles require adequate blood flow to the roots.
4. I take Heart & Soil Organ Meat Supplements daily; this has made the biggest difference in my hair due to the insane amount of vital nutrients that are often missing from our diets. I've noticed so many benefits from taking these supplements but hair growth is something I've actually seen physical evidence of. I also blend Agent Nateur's Holi(mane) Marine Collagen every evening with my Magnesium from Kroma Wellness. Marine collagen is superior to bovine collagen because it's typically sourced better and provides a wider range of benefits (like targeting all types of collagen in the body, not just joints). I also take Royal Jelly every morning. This is an ancient beauty food that I swear by.
5. My favorite hair oils are Joon Saffron Hair Elixir and Agent Nateur's Holi(locks). I use the Joon Saffron oil when I'm styling (I apply when the hair is damp and then either let it air dry or I blow dry), and I use Holi(locks) when I'm doing my scalp stimulating ritual at night before bed. I will often braid my hair on nights I use that oil so that my scalp and hair shafts can stay moisturized all night long. I also use straight castor oil to do a hair mask about once a month; I massage the oil into my roots and all over the hair and just leave it in for 3-4 days (I put my hair in braids so it doesn't look crazy).
6. I do reflexology on my stress points about once a week. This helps the hair grow strong by relaxing the nervous system and helping all organs and systems in the body function better. I have reflexology classes in my Skin Within Studio! If you click here I also have basic face maps that can help get you started.
7. This is my favorite dry shampoo!
